Town Clerk Colleen Smith reported that Governor Kathy Hochul released funds for a grant program to upgrade shelters and that proposals are due on Jan. 30, 2026. She told the board the grant contains a clause that prohibits use of funds for shelter improvements if the shelter is on private property; the board took note for follow-up as they consider whether the local shelter is eligible.
The clerk’s report also noted routine collections: four dog licenses totaling $38 were submitted with a check turned in to the town. The board voted to accept the clerk’s report and the information about the grant will inform any decision to pursue a proposal before the Jan. 30 deadline.
