Jordan fire chief reports new truck timeline, recruitment gains and training concerns

Chief C1 Mark Fietta updated the board on fire department operations, recruitment and equipment on Oct. 28. He said the new fire truck "should be starting the building process around November 11ish and should take about 1 month." He also reported an accident involving Engine 1 that resulted in a flat tire but no injuries and that the department may interchange tires with Engine 2 to address the issue.
Chief Fietta said the department is ordering new gear and has added five new members. He announced a Corn Hole Tournament fundraiser scheduled for Nov. 11, 2024 at Kegs Canalside and noted the department has been attending state-required classes. He cautioned that increased OSHA training requirements "may hamper future volunteer involvement," an item the board did not formally act on during the meeting.
