Volker project representative Miss Penn told the Montgomery Public Schools board that construction of the new Percy Julian High School is about 48% complete and remains on track for a substantial‑completion milestone currently targeted in January 2028.
"Percy Julian High School, we are currently at 48% complete," Penn said, then detailed progress on brick and stone facades, HVAC ductwork, fire sprinkler piping, and TPO roofing. She also described ongoing work in the Fine Arts wing, gymnasiums and the Athletic Field House and noted crews are using a newly‑completed backside parking area to stage equipment.
Penn reported Capitol Heights Middle School is in early site work and listed a summer 2028 target for the Phase 1 turnover. She also said MBE/DBE participation numbers were unchanged from the previous monthly report.
Board members did not take separate action on the construction updates; the presentation served as an informational progress report and the full construction documentation remains available to trustees and staff.
