Town selects Apex EnergyTech for highway‑garage solar system; estimated net cost falls with rebates

Councilman Sauer said the Apex proposal included lower upfront payment terms and that the project qualifies for a NYSERDA rebate of about $60,000 and a federal investment tax credit (available to be claimed in 2026), which will reduce the town’s net cost to an estimated $30,000–$35,000. He added that the firm provides long performance and material warranties, and the board discussed timing for permitting and installation. The motion to award the bid to Apex EnergyTech was seconded and carried on a roll‑call vote.
Board members said they expect energy savings and credits via the utility for any excess generation; the presenter estimated annual generation sufficient to offset a significant portion of the highway garage’s electricity load. The board directed staff to proceed with contract finalization, permitting and scheduling.
