Pitman council votes to place nonbinding Glassboro–Camden Line ballot question on agenda after split roll call

Councilwoman Musto presented draft Resolution No. 138, 2025 at the July 28 work session to authorize a nonbinding referendum question on the Glassboro–Camden Line to appear on the 2025 General Election ballot; she urged meeting the County Clerk’s August 8 ballot-question deadline. Council President James recounted the Borough’s earlier adoption of Resolution No. 57, 2022 in opposition to the project and said she did not "see the need for another resolution or ballot question" because she doubted it would sway project decision-makers.
Council then voted on a motion by Musto (second Fitzpatrick) to include Resolution No. 138 on the regular meeting agenda. Roll call: Council President James voted No; Councilman Fitzpatrick Yes; Councilwoman Guarni No; Councilwoman Musto Yes; Councilman Uyehara Yes. The motion passed 3–2 to place the proposed referendum resolution on the August regular meeting agenda. Staff noted the deadline for submitting ballot questions to the County Clerk is August 8, 2025.
