Pitman weighs options for senior bus driver vacancy as current driver retires Sept. 22

Administrator McCafferty informed the council that the current senior bus driver plans to retire on Sept. 22, 2025, creating an open position. She said the Borough has had difficulty filling the role at the current hourly rate and that many applicants seek full-time positions.
Councilman Fitzpatrick suggested offering a higher hourly rate while avoiding full-time status to limit health-benefit costs. Council President James suggested exploring a shared-service arrangement with a neighboring municipality; McCafferty expressed concern that a shared service could make Pitman an "afterthought" and said she would review full-time cost implications with CFO Bachich and report back to Council.
