District reports finished playground and bleacher projects across high schools

In his operations briefing, Mister Cook summarized several finishing facilities projects across the district. He said the new James Walker Playground is complete and well used by students, noting new turf and shaded areas; he added that the William Yates signage (about 25–26 years old) will likely be replaced after Independence approved permitting roughly two weeks earlier.
Cook reported that both high schools received new bleachers and that Blue Springs South also got a new gym floor. At Blue Springs High School staff have removed and repainted banners and refreshed the gym space to improve appearance. Board members said the bleachers and gym floor were overdue and praised the district for completing the work ahead of school start.
The board also heard a brief update on Cordell Mason Road where developers and the Hudson Estate subdivision are installing roadwork; Mr. Cook said grading and asphalt work were scheduled once weather permitted and that coordination with developer Hudson will affect final timing.
