Uintah auditors give 'clean' FY2024–25 opinion, note two procedural findings

Corey Urie, an auditor with Childs Richards CPAs & Advisors, told the Uintah City Council that the city's FY2024–25 financial statements received an unmodified, or "clean," opinion and that there were no material weaknesses or instances of known or suspected fraud during the audit.
Urie identified two procedural findings: minutes from at least one meeting were not uploaded to the Utah Public Notice website within three business days, and the city's fraud risk assessment had not been completed by the end of the fiscal year. He said the firm gave an unmodified opinion on state compliance as well. "The City is in a good overall financial position and the findings represent areas for improvement rather than systemic failures," Urie told the council.
Mayor Bell asked whether the audit meant the city was in a solid position; Urie reiterated that the findings were corrective in nature. The council designated a backup person to ensure timely posting of minutes and agreed to place the fraud-risk assessment on a future agenda to meet auditing standards.
The presentation gives the council a path to close procedural gaps identified by the auditors while retaining the clean financial opinion, allowing staff to schedule corrective items for follow-up.
