Career Innovation Center near completion; district schedules Aug. 27 ribbon-cutting

Mister Cook told the board the district’s Career Innovation Center (CIC) is days away from opening to students and the community after years of planning and construction. “I think I shared with you last month that we had over 1,300 punch list items. We’re now we’re now down to under 10,” he said, adding that administrators and staff have already used the new space for breakfasts and meetings.
Cook walked members through pictures of the facility and highlighted the CIC’s branding, staircase and coffee-shop area. He said the district used the new space this summer for a staff breakfast, a secretaries’ back-to-school meeting and an administrators’ meeting; two small spills were cleaned up quickly and did not affect operations. The board was told the fence at the main entry had come down and crews were scheduled for final grading and asphalt work in the coming week.
The district announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony to recognize Annette Segoe at the CIC on Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m. Board members praised the facility’s design and its potential impact: one member said visitors said they “wish I would've had this growing up,” and another noted the space “is just an unbelievable place for our students and for our staff.”
Administration also previewed programming and community use for the CIC’s flexible event spaces and told the board the facility would support career-focused classes and community engagement. The CIC update was part of a broader operations report the board received, which also covered ongoing site work and related campus projects.
