Brown County commissioners canvass Aug. 4 primary ballots and accept provisional counts

The Brown County Board of County Commissioners temporarily recessed its regular meeting to canvass ballots from the Aug. 4 primary election and later accepted provisional counts and approved the final election report.
Chair Lucas Hite moved to recess the regular session to canvass the ballots; the motion was seconded and approved. Commissioners opened precinct sheets, verified sealed ballots and read results for constitutional amendments and multiple candidate races. During the canvass the board noted pages with zero votes in some precincts and worked through precinct-by-precinct reporting.
After the review S1 moved to accept the provisional counts; the motion carried by voice vote. The board then signed and approved the final election report and reconvened the regular session. No contested legal issues or changes to the provisional tallies were recorded during the meeting.
Commissioners directed clerks to complete the required paperwork and to file the certified canvass as part of the official election record.
