Board accepts $3.4 million SIA grant as state outlines possible reductions

Moore recommended formally accepting the grant because the state allows districts the option to decline funds but there is no local reason to do so.
Moore cautioned that statewide reduction planning released by ODE/OSBA shows multiple rendition scenarios for possible 1% to 5% cuts. "Nothing cut this school year, but then things completely cut or reduced next school year," he said, noting that legislative economic forecasts and committee action in the coming weeks will shape any final reductions. The board carried the motion to accept the SIA grant by voice vote.
Board members asked for follow-up as the legislature and state forecasts evolve; district staff said they will circulate further updates and reassess budget implications when the economic forecast and legislative actions are clearer.
