Board approves replacement bleachers and new baseball scoreboard

The Milton-Freewater Unified School District No. 7 board voted to accept a state purchasing bid for replacement Norpak aluminum bleachers after the district's original bleachers were destroyed by a vehicle. The board also approved purchasing a new scoreboard for the baseball field costing $22,007.81; a $20,000 grant from the Milton-Freewater Area Foundation will cover most of the scoreboard cost, with the remainder to be picked up by the city or district.
Martin Moore, who presented the items, said the bleachers package of about $46,100 includes installation and setup. "Our insurance provider is covering the, majority of that cost," he said. A motion to accept the bid was moved and seconded and the board carried the motion.
Board members discussed logistics for removing the old bleachers and noted Craig's team handled the original installation. The athletic director was cited as working on complementary improvements for softball and soccer scoreboards, and Moore said the facilities team will coordinate with the city on installation timing.
