Cherokee ISD board approves July minutes and accepts finance report

The Cherokee Independent School District Board of Education unanimously approved the minutes of its July 6, 2026 meeting and accepted the finance report during a special session on Aug. 3.
"Motion by Valerie Valdez, seconded by Rodney Johnson to accept the action items as presented.. The motion carried unanimously," the minutes state. Valerie Valdez moved the approval and Rodney Johnson seconded it. The minutes list Tommy Morrison, Rodney Johnson, Valerie Valdez, Travis Shannon and Anne Brownlee as the board members present and name Jennifer Bordner and Deneise Woolsey as administration and staff.
There was no public forum at the meeting and no visitors were recorded. The remainder of the agenda focused on a TEA waiver request for several teachers and routine procedural items. The board recorded no further debate on the minutes or finance report before taking the vote.
