Commission approves $256,059 change order to finish hydro-court conversion

Recreation Director Ward briefed the commission on RFP 2024-07 and the need to finish Courts 1'3 to make courts 1'7 a consistent playing surface. Fast Dry Courts was the sole proposer for the original scope; city staff recommended using a change order under the existing contract to finish the remaining courts at a price drawn from the vendor's original proposal.
"The cost of the work for the courts numbers 1 through 3 is $251,059.30 and we've added an additional $5,000 for contingency," Ward said. Commissioners asked how long the work would take and whether courts will be available during the phased work; Ward said courts 4'7 will be completed first to ensure maximum availability, with remaining courts scheduled so at least eight courts remain playable at most times. The commission approved the change order (vote 4'00). Staff said restoration of shade canopies and other follow-up items will be presented at a subsequent meeting.
