Administrators reiterated that the district has a target of 97 elementary teachers for the coming fall and continues to recruit to fill vacancies created by resignations and retirements.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about the hiring list, whether new hires are within budget, and the use of pre-teachers (noncertified staff filling in for vacancies). Board members expressed concern about pre-teachers filling specialized roles such as special education and asked administration to prioritize certified placements where possible. The board moved and approved personnel and minutes-related items as part of the consent agenda.
