Monroe High boys soccer feted for first-ever Final Four run

The Monroe Board of Education recognized the Monroe High boys soccer team for its most successful season on record. Coach Ian Cook recounted the team’s run to the final four — the first time in school history — and recapped several notable postseason victories.
Cook detailed the season’s milestones: victories over Ann Arbor Pioneer (3–2) and Dexter (1–0) that helped the team reach the final four; a postseason run that included wins over Taylor (10–0) and Woodhaven (5–3); and a regional semifinal loss that ended the run. He delivered season totals on the record: 23 games played, 13 wins, 8 losses, 2 ties, 65 goals scored and 46 conceded. "The 2024 season was an historic season of achievement for the soccer program," Cook said. He also noted the team’s combined GPA as 3.2.
Cook introduced many players by name and number and thanked assistant coaches Steve Steele, Ryan Charnock and Rob Anderson and the booster committee for parental support. Board members and the superintendent praised the program and the students’ academic and athletic accomplishments.
