Multiple fall varsity coaches presented program updates, participation trends and resource requests to the board on July 28, asking trustees to consider facility upgrades, staffing and safety measures before the start of the school year.
Aaron, the girls varsity swim coach, said the program grew to 20 girls in conditioning this summer (from 18 last season) and set competitive goals including state qualification and a long-term vision for a 10-lane pool that could also serve community needs. He said the current pool prevents safe diving and contributes to false starts and disqualifications.
Football coach Kyle Reed highlighted roster continuity and listed five home games with the season starting Sept. 10; he asked the district to evaluate summer athletic-trainer coverage after medical incidents at off-site summer events. Soccer coach Ian Cook reported adding a 3rd boys team and high conditioning turnout (up to 52 boys) and asked for more field access at the high school now used by multiple programs. Volleyball coach Chloe Mauer asked the board to consider ADA access to the upper gym (no elevator currently) to host tournaments and expand seating. Cross-country coach Jim Davis cited the need to fill a middle-school coaching vacancy to maintain feeder pipelines. Golf coaches requested better winter indoor practice options, including a simulator, and noted availability constraints with community partners.
Administrators thanked coaches for community engagement and pledged to continue conversations about facilities and phased investments. Coaches emphasized booster and alumni support for fundraising but asked the district to evaluate longer-term facility and staffing solutions.
