At its July 28 meeting the Monroe Public Schools Board of Education approved several administrative and facilities actions on motions brought during the consent and new-business items.
The board approved corrected minutes for prior meetings after staff reported vote-tally errors and reissued the revised minutes. Trustees then ratified the bus driver master agreement covering 07/01/2026 through 06/30/2027, as presented by the administration. The board also approved a service-extension addendum with METS (Michigan Education Transportation Services, Inc.) to continue transportation services for the same contract year.
Facilities staff presented a bid from Monroe Plumbing and Heating to perform mechanical updates at Hollywood Elementary. The board approved the base bid not to exceed $574,000 plus alternate No. 1 for $23,000, for a total project cost not to exceed $597,000. Administrators said the project will be charged to the district's sinking fund and may be phased; the immediate priority is replacing failing boilers with unit vents and air-conditioning options considered later. The motion passed on roll call.
All motions were approved on roll-call votes; administrators said they will return with scheduling details for construction phasing and confirm contract documents for ratified agreements.
