Residents ask Third Lake to publish clear redline or summary of zoning overhaul

Rosemary Burger and other residents asked for a direct comparison showing what language has moved or changed from the 2002 ordinance to the current draft. The request was pitched as an accessibility issue: residents said the draft runs nearly 189 pages and that a redline or a short "what's changed" summary would let an average homeowner identify key differences without hiring a lawyer.
"I'm curious why there isn't a comparison document that shows the original 23-year-old document and the updates that you're putting in, because for an average person, to go through the whole document and try to digest what you're doing is a bit much," Rosemary Burger said. Clerk Kelly Novak confirmed the draft was posted on the Village website and that a hard copy was available at Village Hall, but commissioners cautioned that producing a formal redline could be expensive and time-consuming. The Commission agreed to incorporate recent written comments into the record and to consider options for improving clarity prior to the April 8 continuation.
