Council approves six-figure payments, change order and engineering contract for water and sewer projects

During the Water & Sewer committee report, Council approved a set of payments and a contract amendment tied to ongoing infrastructure projects. Alderman Jack Clifford moved the motions and Alderman Heather Begley seconded; all motions passed on unanimous roll calls.
Approved items included payment to Airy’s Inc. for emergency sewer bypass set-up on Southwest Highway ($23,302.89); Change No. 1 to add $32,457.16 above the original contract price for the 300,000-gallon ground storage tank to replace a 16" flow meter with a magnetic flow meter and add a 4" drain valve; Payment No. 6 and No. 7 to Dahme Mechanical Industries for the 300,000-gallon tank ($294,024.66); payment to B&K Equipment to replace a riser for an underground diesel tank sensor ($8,096.00); and payment to National Power Rodding for testing and sealing of 24" sanitary mainline joints on Route 83 ($7,502.00). Council also approved a proposal not to exceed $21,500 with Strand Associates, Inc. for Risk and Resilience Assessment and Emergency Response Plan updates.
