The council’s Planning & Zoning agenda on May 5 included multiple special-use approvals for small businesses. Alderman Pat Scully moved to adopt ordinances permitting an eyelash studio at 6535 W. 127th Street (PIN 24-31-201-102-0000) and a hair salon at 12626 S. Harlem Avenue (PIN 23-25-433-021-0000); both motions passed unanimously.
A petition to allow a hand carwash and detail shop at 6350 W. 135th Street also passed. Petitioners described a four-bay layout with two wash bays and two detail bays, confirmed plans for drain installation and said they would seek EPA permits once zoning approval was granted; they expect hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., six days a week. Council approved an ordinance to allow a barbershop at 7217 W. College Drive in the former Lush Hair Salon footprint. A variance request for a home addition at 13048 S. 71st Avenue was withdrawn by the petitioner and not considered by roll call.
