The commission agreed to become the lead agency for environmental review (SEQRA) and set a public hearing for Aug. 24 on a proposed two-phase storage facility at 91 East State Street. Brandon described the project as including one climate-controlled building and two non-climate buildings in phase 1, with external boat and equipment storage planned at the rear of the site.
Staff said the developer — described as originally from Sherrill and experienced in storage facilities — is seeking site-plan approval from the planning board before the commission’s hearing. Brandon told the commission the developer expects to start work within 30 days after final approvals. The planning board is scheduled to make a recommendation before the commission’s hearing.
"They'd like to start and be in the ground within 30 days of final approvals," Brandon said. The commission voted to designate the city lead agency and to schedule the Aug. 24 public hearing.
