City staff: pool project moves forward; design, bidding and fundraising underway

City staff said the pool project is moving forward after the state returned the grant disbursement agreement. Brandon, speaking as city staff, told the commission that engineering and planning will continue into the fall, with a goal to approve final designs in late fall or early winter and to issue construction bids in early 2027.
Brandon said construction would occur through 2027 with an illustrative opening around Father’s Day 2028. He also said the city is exploring partnership options with the YMCA for programming and alternative delivery. On fundraising, Brandon told the commission that grassroots efforts are active and reported a $25,000 donation from John Geiss and his family, which staff said will be included on the donor display at the pool site once fundraising tallies are finalized.
"We were blessed to receive $25,000, from John Geiss and his family," Brandon said during his report. Staff said they will post fundraising progress on the city website and that the commission will be updated during budget discussions.
