PJ’s Corner Tap owner seeks earlier Sunday alcohol service; board approves 11 a.m. start, keeps 1 a.m. closing

Peter Matsuka, owner of PJ’s Corner Tap, asked the Village of Davis board to allow Sunday alcohol service to begin at 11:00 a.m. rather than the current noon start so the business can offer breakfast service. He also requested weekend closing hours be extended to 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Board members discussed parking-stripe placement in front of the bar and noted the previous owner had requested the striping per rules of the road. Steve (staff member) answered a question about the parking layout and board members mentioned a regular patron who often parks in the yellow-lined area.
After discussion, Greg Price moved and Mike Wise seconded a motion to change Sunday serving hours to begin at 11:00 a.m. while retaining the existing 1:00 a.m. closing time. The motion carried with the full board voting in favor. The board did not approve an extension of closing hours at this meeting.
The decision changes only the authorized start time for Sunday service; no change to weekday or late-night closing hours was recorded.
