Dakota board to consider electricity aggregation referendum after vendor presentation

Village President Jon Riley introduced Marni Henert of Rock River Energy Services, who described an Opt-Out electrical aggregation program the company could offer to Dakota residents and commercial accounts. Henert said the village would need to put a referendum on the ballot and that an ordinance adopting the program must be reported to the county clerk before Nov. 15 to pursue aggregation.
The board agreed to review a draft ordinance and asked staff to place the issue on the agenda for the next meeting. Henert told trustees implementation would take time and that, if approved by referendum and later by a contract award, a full rollout could occur roughly the following August–September. President Riley said the board will review bids and either approve or decline any proposed contract at a later meeting.
