The council approved a 20% discount on the first half of first‑year rent for McKenna tenant Quinton Roy after terrace construction limited site usability. The McKenna Advisory Board reported planning for community events and used $20,000 from a line of credit to cover current bills. USD 269 coaches were authorized to supervise athletes in the McKenna gym from 7:00–9:00 AM with parental liability waivers required for participants under 16.
Fire Chief Gregg Whisman reported maintenance and testing on the department’s large apparatus. He said the truck was taken to Hays for electrical repairs (a faulty dimmer switch), was tuned at Peterbilt, and "is no longer smoking, so there is no need to trade it." Hays Fire ran pump tests, producing 1,254 gallons per minute for 20 minutes at 150 psi, 900 gpm at 200 psi and 600 gpm at 250 psi. The county has approved new fire skids that will be assigned to departments including Palco; the department will need a pickup truck to mount a skid once delivered.
