The Palco City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 11 to transfer $12,000 from the General Fund to the Fire Department Fund to support department needs.
Fire Department representative Gregg phoned in at 8:29 PM to report firefighters inspected trucks and completed a walk-through on the pumper truck; he presented two truck options, noting one had a larger tank but a smaller pump and that the department could pursue swapping pumps if needed. Gregg estimated the existing truck's trade-in value at $20,000–$30,000 and said Hays Fire and another company will provide purchase quotes.
Gregg also noted Western Cooperative Electric sometimes offers 0% interest loans for fire departments to buy trucks and will assist with grant-writing; he said the department is gathering quotes for boots, gloves and helmets.
