Palco moves McKenna land-lease payment dates, transfers DPOA authority

The City of Palco council on Feb. 11 approved revisions to McKenna land-lease contracts that change renewal and payment schedules and clarify possession dates for incoming tenants.
Gregg reported the renewal period will be July 1 through June 30 and recommended changing payment dates to July 1 and Dec. 1 so farmers can harvest milo before payment dates. The council voted to change payment dates immediately and to transfer Designated Power of Attorney (DPOA) responsibilities from Rod to Gregg; motions carried 4-0.
Gregg said three contracts will not be renewed this year and that terraces will be started on the land currently leased by Cody Howland in the next month or two, with terrace work on additional parcels planned for late summer or early fall. The council discussed potential cash-flow implications for the McKenna Center if payment timing shifted and considered a short loan or CD withdrawal; the approved immediate change was intended to avoid borrowing.
