Local housing task force promotes ADU outreach and wastewater options, seeks Selectboard support for grant applications

Members of the New Haven Housing Task Force updated the Selectboard on July 21 about outreach and early feasibility work designed to expand local housing options. The task force distributed a presentation and said residents have responded positively and that several homeowners have invited Michael Chaucer to review their properties for accessory dwelling unit (ADU) potential.
"We have created a new website: www.newhavenhousingvt.com," Jeff Pratt told the board. The group said it has reached out to VELCO to ask whether the utility would consider hosting a community wastewater facility and is connecting with other towns via the Addison County Economic Development Corp. (ACEDC) to study municipal wastewater solutions. The task force described three funding ideas from ACEDC and requested permission to prepare grant applications; the Selectboard signaled support for the task force to proceed to the grant‑application phase, with any grant submissions to come back to the Selectboard for formal approval.
