Survey finds large sediment build-up at Nash Bridge; engineer urges state permission to remove material

Robert Clark of Otter Creek Engineering told the Selectboard that a recent survey of the New Haven River at Nash Bridge identified a substantial sediment deposit on the river's north side that has created a large beach and pushed the active channel roughly 40 feet south. Clark recommended the town seek state permission to remove the sediment at the bridge and in upstream reaches as part of a channel‑management approach.
Selectboard members acknowledged the finding and asked staff to follow up on permitting and any environmental review that removal might require. Clark said he will provide locations and an approach for the Selectboard to consider before any work begins.
