He told the board that "over 1,200 JUSD students registered for the event" across all 24 schools and that "over 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed." Owens also reported 86 haircuts, on-site vaccinations for 31 students, free dental screenings and sports physicals for high-school athletes.
The fair hosted roughly 40 community partners providing free resources and services. Owens emphasized inclusive opportunities for students with IEPs, noting summer-program participation totals and that some students were mainstreamed into general activities during summer programming.
