Davis trustees approve street repairs, buy line‑painting machine and advance water work

President Olson called the Village of Davis board to order at 7:02 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2025. Trustees voted to approve the consent agenda, including additional bills for Johnson Oil ($542.03), the City of Rockford ($60.00) and TR Machine ($10.46). Trustee Mike Wise moved to approve the agenda and Jodie Pieper seconded; the motion carried.
The board approved two actions that will affect local infrastructure spending. Trustees voted to buy a Graco Line Lazer line‑painting machine for $6,200 to paint parking spots, a motion made by Trustee Mike Wise and seconded by Brittney Kunz. They also accepted a Helm Group bid of $11,565 to repair three streets damaged by water‑main breaks and to correct a driveway on Eply that had not been fixed when earlier work was done; Mike Wise moved to accept the bid and Judy LaFurge seconded — the motion carried.
The meeting advanced the village’s water plans: staff reported that bids for Phase 2 of the water project will be solicited in September and engineering work has begun. Officials also noted a storm‑damaged router at the wellhouse has interrupted communications from the tower to the wellhouse when it fails; monitoring is in place while repairs proceed.
Other business included a report that Benning Group LLC completed the 2004–2005 audit and a discussion about the retired police car, for which there has been no buyer; the board will decide whether to list it or keep it for an ordinance officer. Trustees also approved closing part of Dawson Street for a car show on Aug. 16 at the request of PJ’s Bar, and discussed timing for a spring park project that will begin at the ball diamond.
