Colton Equalization Board reduces assessments on multiple parcels after appeals

The Colton Local Board of Equalization convened March 16 and heard 11 property assessment appeals. Examples include a reduction for Parcel #021759 (owner Larry Nesheim) lowering total assessment to $337,839; Parcel #021708 (owner Dawn Pilker) with land reduced to $15,700; and several parcels owned by Betty Oberg that received reductions across multiple lots.
Motions to change assessments were recorded for each appeal and carried by unanimous vote of the board members present. The minutes record reasons including comparisons to similar nearby structures, evidence of flooding or lack of access and the absence of recent improvements. The board closed the equalization process and adjourned at 8:17 p.m.
