The Colton City Council completed the second reading and adopted Ordinance #3-2026 on May 11, 2026, changing the zoning for Lots 1–4 and part of Lot 5 NE of RR Block 11 in Colton's 4th Addition from R-1 Residential to GB General Business. The ordinance amends the official zoning map and passed on a motion by Brendon Bunjer, seconded by Larry Vande Voort, with a unanimous roll-call vote.
Council members discussed that conditional-use permits may be required for certain activities at the rezoned location; no conditional-use permit was granted at the meeting. A public hearing on the rezoning was held in a special session on April 27 where the first reading occurred, and the May 11 action constitutes final adoption of the ordinance with an effective date indicated in the ordinance publication schedule.
