The City of Colton conducted the first reading of Ordinance No. 3-2026 at a Special Council session on April 27, 2026, which would rezone Lots 1 through 4 and part of Lot 5 in Block 11 of the Colton City 4th Addition from R-1 (Residential) to GB (General Business). Mayor Trevor Bunde read the ordinance language to council members; no members of the public attended the scheduled hearing and no public comment was recorded.
Council previously set the public hearing at its April 13 meeting. The matter was placed on the special session agenda to allow formal consideration; the minutes show the first reading was completed, with any subsequent readings or final action to follow the city's ordinance process. Staff provided the official public-hearing notice in accordance with SDCL 11-4-4.
