Board cuts building assessment after finding unexplained $125,100 jump in value

"The board disagrees with the assessment that this land value has appreciated this much since last year," the minutes state in recording the motion by Alderman Evans and second by Alderman Bunjer; the motion carried "all aye." The board cited comparisons to similar nearby structures and the lack of physical changes to the property when approving the reduction.
The clerk will record the adjusted assessment for the 2026 tax roll, and staff was directed to update records and notify the property owner.
