Colton approves purchase of an 8‑foot DebrisFree turf sweeper for $3,950

The council on March 9 approved purchase of an 8‑foot Beacon Athletics DebrisFree turf sweeper at a cost of $3,950 to support field maintenance. Councilor Larry Vande Voort moved to approve the purchase and Councilor Tyler Evans seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call.

Council reviewed alternatives and vendor specifications in the meeting packet. The minutes record the chosen item and price: "A motion was made by Vande Voort and seconded by Evans to purchase the 8' wide sweeper for $3,950.00. Roll call was taken and motion passed with all members voting aye." The packet includes vendor product information and competing quotes for similar sweepers for comparison; the selected unit is intended to remove debris while returning turf infill material.

City staff said the sweeper will be used by parks and public works personnel to keep synthetic and natural turf fields clear of rocks, leaves and other debris to improve playability and safety. The purchase was funded from the parks/equipment budget line.
