Belmar council approves consent resolutions including EPA grant application for Silver Lake and audit certification

At the meeting the council advanced a consent package of resolutions covering grant applications, audit certification, staffing and project adjustments.
The mayor announced a resolution authorizing submission of an application to the EPA related to a $1,000,000 congressional earmark for Silver Lake. "This is that $1,000,000 congressional earmark," the mayor said when introducing the item. The council also certified the annual audit after an internal detailed review and agreed on corrective actions to improve accountability.
Other approved resolutions included a $25,000 grant agreement with the New Jersey Forest Service for tree pruning and maintenance, appointing a new engineer (Abakim Engineering), initiating a search for a full-time borough administrator, and finalizing a settlement that will result in more than $200,000 in pilot payments to the borough. The East Court project (508 Main Street) received a requested extension to delay start until 2029 to better stagger construction activity.
All consent items were moved and approved on the consent agenda; council recorded 'ayes' for the motions.
