State rule changes assign fire warden role to chiefs; New Haven names local deputies

Per Vermont policy changes, Fire Chiefs are now automatically appointed as Fire Wardens; New Haven's Fire Chief Mark Livingston plans to keep Andrew Bouton as Assistant Deputy Fire Warden and add Cody Cyr as an additional deputy.
The Selectboard noted that changes from the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation now automatically appoint every Fire Chief to act as the Fire Warden for their town, eliminating the town-level appointment process. Pam Kingman reported that Fire Chief Mark Livingston has met with his assistant chiefs and the current fire warden and plans to retain Andrew Bouton as Assistant Deputy Fire Warden and add Cody Cyr as an additional Deputy Fire Warden.
No formal Selectboard appointment was required because of the state policy change; the board was informed of the local staffing plan and no objection was recorded.
