Public commenters praise vacancy process, criticize leadership; board notes student death

During the public comment period the board heard both praise and criticism related to the Region 2 appointment and district leadership. Dania Savage thanked the board for a transparent process, saying, "From the perspective of the public, I thought that the whole process was so transparent and clear, and I just wanted to commend the board leadership and administration for that whole process." Another public commenter sharply criticized the administration and board leadership, stating, "I am nauseated by the leadership of of this district" and described recent leadership remarks as "reprehensible."
Separately, the superintendent informed the board and public of the death of a rising sixth-grade student, Tanner Anceloski, who had been battling brain cancer. The superintendent said services were scheduled for the following day and asked the room to pause in remembrance. Board members offered condolences and thanked contractors and staff for their summer work before adjourning the meeting.
