District administration told the board that, following passage of the state budget for fiscal year 2627, a brief 10-day window opened for additional applications for school facility funding. The administration identified Gilbertsville Elementary boiler and water-line replacement as an eligible project and submitted a $570,000 application.
As the presenter explained, "If we receive that grant, that'll fund 75% of the project cost." The district said it will await the state's award announcements this fall; if funded, the grant would reduce the district's capital outlay from its capital project funds by the amount of the award, with the district responsible for the 25% local match.
The board was informed there is not a definitive timeline for the award process beyond an announcement planned for some point this fall.
