WCIDA approves participation and funding for countywide Smart Growth strategic plan

The Wayne County Industrial Development Agency voted June 15 to authorize participation and a fiscal commitment to pursue a New York State Department of State Smart Growth Strategic Plan for the county.
Brian Pincelli, Executive Director, told the board the application would knit together the county housing plan, agricultural development plan and other studies to give local leaders — including town planning and zoning boards — a cohesive approach to future development. "We have and continue to pursue funds to advance this project," Pincelli said when introducing the resolution. Kaye Stone‑Gansz moved the resolution and Amanda McDonald seconded; "All present approved," the minutes record.
Board members framed the action as a first step to help communities align water and sewer capacity, housing availability and economic development. Pincelli said the plan would provide a pathway for decision makers to consider infrastructure and land‑use together rather than in isolation. The board did not specify the dollar amount of WCIDA's commitment at the meeting.
The resolution authorizes WCIDA to participate in and fiscally support an application to the Department of State; the board approved the motion unanimously among members present at the time. Next procedural steps were not specified beyond application submission and pursuit of available grants.
