The WEDC board on June 8 approved a resolution to modify Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund loan 6000-01 so funds can be applied to petroleum remediation at Canal Street properties in Lyons, the board said.
Katie Bronson, deputy director, introduced the resolution and said, "during the controlled demolition on 46 Canal Street, petroleum was discovered and additional removal would be required. The hazardous material pollution has also affected properties 42 Canal Street and 50 Canal Street; also requiring removal. Additionally, 67-69 Canal Street is not moving forward due to complications with the stability of the property." She identified the original loan number 6000-01 and listed the addresses covered by the prior scope: 42 Canal Street, 46 Canal Street and 67-69 Canal Street, Lyons, NY 14489.
Board members and staff clarified how the scope will change. Brian Pincelli, executive director, said part of the original scope called for demolition of 67-69 Canal Street but work there is on hold because the adjacent building’s condition makes proceeding unsafe; staff proposed reallocating those funds to address petroleum contamination at 42 Canal Street, 46 Canal Street and adding 50 Canal Street. Bronson also told the board that the building on 50 Canal Street had been demolished before the Land Bank acquired that parcel.
Member Kenneth VanFleet moved to approve the resolution; Treasurer Julie DiLella seconded. "All present approved," the board recorded. Present members listed in the minutes were Chair David Fantuzzo, Kenneth VanFleet, Julie DiLella and Kaye Stone-Gansz; the vote carried unanimously. The minutes state staff said the change will not add cost to the project because the scope is being shifted away from 67-69 Canal Street.
The board recorded the next meeting for Monday, June 15, 2026 at 9:10 A.M.
