City staff recommended and the council approved a contract not to exceed $534,050 to replace and upgrade the airfield lighting control and monitoring system and constant current regulators at Modesto's airport.
The Public Works director explained that the project is roughly 95% funded by the Federal Aviation Administration with the remaining 5% covered by city funds. The council voted unanimously to accept the bid and award the contract to Shane Brown Electric of Woodland, California.
Council discussed the scope briefly; a resident asked whether the project covered runway or perimeter lighting and staff confirmed the work pertains to airfield lighting systems along the runway. The contract was approved by roll call.
