Town Manager Jerry updated the Select Board Aug. 11 on progress with retailer participation in the pay‑as‑you‑throw bag program and other operational matters.
Jerry said Hannaford locations in Topsham, Brunswick and Lewiston, Market Basket and Shaw's (Freeport and Lewiston) are participating; Auburn and a Bow Street location declined. He said the town will update the published list of participating retailers and that staff are coordinating accounts so stores can stock the bags for residents.
Jerry also said the economic development committee aims to hold its first meeting on Sept. 15; the town has not yet received additional at‑large applications for that committee and will continue outreach. He also noted he will not attend an upcoming managers' conference because of a personal health issue but expects other staff to attend sessions and return updates for the board.
The manager's report was largely informational; board members thanked staff for moving items forward and requested continued updates on vendor participation and committee recruitment.
