Labor specialist presents initial deputies' bargaining proposal to Jackson County board

"I'm a labor specialist with the Fraternal Police Labor Service Division, and I'm working with the, Jackson County deputy sheriff's, bargaining unit," Christiansen said when introducing the proposal. The board acknowledged receipt and indicated it would review the submission and respond "in the next couple of weeks." The board did not take further action at this meeting.
The presentation was brief: Christiansen said he had no additional items to highlight and deferred to the board for follow-up. Supervisors said staff would review the proposal and work with representatives — including the county's bargaining team and the deputy unit — to schedule negotiations. A separate internal strategy meeting on collective bargaining was noted on the board calendar for Oct. 21 (not a public meeting).
