The Rico Town Board voted unanimously on Aug. 20, 2025, to approve a letter of support for a Region 9 Economic Development District grant application to the Colorado Department of Local Affairs aimed at automating the town's Housing Needs Assessment. Town Manager Chauncey McCarthy summarized the grant request and fielded questions from trustees before the vote.
Mayor Pro Tem Cristal Hibbard moved to approve the letter and Trustee Benn Vernadakis seconded; the motion passed by a 6-0 roll-call vote. Board members did not attach conditions to the support. The letter of support is intended to help secure state funding for a technical effort to make the housing assessment data and reports more accessible and easier to update, the manager said.
