Committee approves multiple public defender, district attorney and DSS staffing changes

The Wayne County Government Operations Committee approved a package of personnel changes and budget adjustments at its June 4 meeting.
Minutes show the committee recorded 5-0 votes to regrade the Second Assistant Public Defender position from Grade 10 to Grade 11 and to create a Grade 10 Senior Assistant Public Defender while abolishing a Grade 9 Assistant Public Defender. Similar changes were approved for the District Attorney’s office: an amendment moving the Second Assistant District Attorney from Grade 10 to Grade 11 and abolishing one Grade 9 Assistant District Attorney to create a Grade 10 Senior Assistant District Attorney.
The committee also approved creating a Senior Housing Coordinator position and amending the 2026 Department of Social Services budget, and it approved creating a full-time Infection Preventionist position at the Wayne County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. All listed transmittals were recorded as approved by a 5-0 vote.
