Superintendent Tuller reported to the board that Mason Consolidated Schools declined 31aa funding, noting the district and many others declined the funds "to protect our district’s legal integrity, safeguard our employees’ rights, and preserve local control over how we approach school safety." He emphasized the district will continue investing in prevention, counseling and safety initiatives using local and alternative funding sources.
Tuller also said factual information from the MCISD will be provided toward the end of the month about the upcoming Monroe County Technology Millage on May 5. He indicated that declining the 31aa funds would not change the district’s commitment to student safety and mental health.
