Public Works Supervisor Jim Stark reviewed January maintenance and operations: he reported identifying and stopping a hydrant leak at an older hydrant on North Street, thawing frozen sampler spigots needed for EPA sampling, and repairing frozen gauges on Well #3. Stark told trustees the department had extra dirt from the Pearl Street Bridge project that could augment the community garden plot.
Stark said Public Works uses the hydrant by the water tower to fill tanker trucks and that a pool company and potentially other firms have asked to purchase water. Trustee Ziegler noted a recommended billing price of $10.00 per 1,000 gallons for companies that purchase water. Stark also listed vehicles needing new tires and said the department is exploring boom truck recertification and preparing a surplus list for auction; President Block explained that disposing of surplus equipment by online bidding requires an ordinance to authorize sale.
Trustees asked for the surplus list with VINs or serial numbers and requested the department seek multiple bids for boom-truck recertification. No auction or sales authorization was completed at the meeting.
